This item is a vintage Soga Japan frosted pressed glass pedestal fruit bowl or compote. Soga Glass was a prominent Japanese manufacturer active in the late 20th century, well-known for creating decorative, heavy-grade kitchenware and centrepieces.
The item features a wide, flared serving bowl set upon a sturdy, trumpet-shaped fluted pedestal base. The rim of the basin is distinctly scalloped and wavy, giving it a flower petal structure.
It blends polished transparent glass with a semi-opaque satin/frosted glass finish on the exterior details and the lower stem.
The exterior walls of the bowl showcase highly detailed, raised-relief motifs of mixed fruits and foliage. It prominently features bunches of grapes, textured strawberries, and large draped leaves that double as the scalloped sections of the rim.
This particular piece comes from the "Strawberry Field" design within the Soga Contemporary Glass Collection.
The bowl is in excellent unused condition and still has the label attached.
