The item is a round, cream-coloured ceramic or stoneware casserole dish with a matching lid.
The surface is off-white or cream with a fine, dark speckled pattern throughout the glaze. A prominent dark brown horizontal band wraps around the lower section of the dish's body. A thinner, matching dark line accents the outer rim of the lid.
The lid is slightly domed and features an integrated, cylindrical hollow knob handle in the centre, which also has a dark rim on top. The dish has a slightly tapered cylindrical shape with a distinct ridge or rim near the top opening where the lid rests.
Aside from age related crazing and a very tiny chip on the lid handle (please see picture), the casserole is in very good and still usable vintage condition.
