EmEss was a trade name used by a silverware manufacturer in England until the 1960’s, although a South African manufacturer on the South Coast used the trade name Em-Ess until the 1970’s.

This item is a vintage silver plated serving tray manufactured during the mid-century under the British EmEss trade name. The tray has been fitted with a pair of beautifully ornate handles and a rolled feather’s edge motif rim. The well of the tray is decorated with an etched grand Baroque patterning with a portion in the center left blank for the owner’s choice of engraving.

The tray is stamped underneath EmEss Silverware.

Fading of the silver plate in the well as well as on the rim, results in a copper hue. Aside from the fading plate revealing copper, the tray is in very good vintage condition.

Height of handles: 3.4 cm, Height of rim: 2 cm, Base: 33.5 cm x 22.5 cm, Length: 39 cm, Width: 28 cm, Handle to handle: 49.5 cm
