The item is an oval shaped silver plate on brass dish with a beaded rim and Gothic patterned pierced metal verge. The dish also stands on four ball feet. EmEss was a trade name used by a silverware manufacturer in England until the 1960’s, although a South African manufacturer on the South Coast used the trade name Em-Ess until the 1970’s.
The dish is impressed underneath Plate Emess SP On B.
The dish requires polishing and have feint surface scratches due to use all over, aside from which the dish is in good usable condition.
