This is a vintage Alfred Meakin "Cherry Ripe" oval serving platter, manufactured in Staffordshire, England. This specific pattern was highly popular and ubiquitous during the 1950s and 1960s.

The "Cherry Ripe" Pattern design features clusters of vibrant, deep-red cherries hanging from realistic brown branches with green foliage.

The cream or off-white surface of the platter is distinguished by a printed, cross-hatched grey grid pattern designed to mimic the textured look of natural woven linen fabric.

The composition features one large, primary bunch of fruit on the left and two smaller, sparse cherry sprigs accenting the top and right margins, leaving a wide-open area in the centre.

It is an elongated oval platter, traditionally used as a meat or main course serving dish.

The platter is made from semi-porcelain or durable ironstone typical of mid-century English pottery production lines.

The platter is in fair vintage condition with quite a few chips underneath the rim and one visible on the front rim (please see pictures).
