Alfares de Ponte Sampaio, better known as the brand Pontesa, launched as a company in 1961 in Vigo, Spain. They went on the be the largest Spanish producer of porcelain ceramics and at one stage had over 30 stores across the country and employed more than 5,000 workers. Across the 1960s and 1970s they produced a wonderful range of floral and abstract designs relevant to both eras.
This stunning 20 piece breakfast set consists of 4 smaller fruit bowls, 4 cereal bowls, 4 bread plates and 4 coffee duos (4 saucers and 4 cups). It is decorated in beautiful retro pink and purple flowers and will make for a cheery breakfast for 4 people. At R20 a piece, this is a worthwhile buy.
All the items are stamped Pontesa Made in Spain.
One of the cereal bowls has a repaired chip underneath the rim, leaving a rough spot to the touch, but not visible from the top. All the other items are in very good condition.
