A rare antique fine porcelain jug manufactured by Paragon China between 1903 and 1920 with the star trademark after Star China Co. began to use the Paragon China trade name. In 1920 the star mark continued to be used but with the addition of “fine bone china” beneath the Paragon name. The jug has been decorated with a pink and white floral patterning against a purple, blue and black band beneath the rim. Gold trim has been used on the item’s rim and handle.
Paragon China Co. was originally established in 1899 as Star China Co. and began to use the Paragon China name in 1903. In the same year the company also officially changed its name to Paragon China Co. In 1930 the company became Paragon China Ltd. In 1960 it was acquired by Thomas C Wild & Sons and in 1964 became part of Allied English Potteries. In 1972 it became part of the Royal Doulton Group. The Royal Doulton Group continued to use the Paragon name but by 1989 the patterns and name had been absorbed into the Royal Albert brand.
The jug is stamped underneath with a star followed by Paragon China England.
The item is in good second hand condition with age related wear.
