This assembled set consist of an antique silver plated soup tureen manufactured during the early 1900’s with lid and tureen each having an extended rim which fits on each other. The lid is a domed design fitted with a scroll finial above an embossed scallop motif.
Together with the soup tureen is a vintage chromium plated soup ladle manufactured by JH Potter, Sheffield. The ladle was manufactured between 1925 and 1935 with a dovetail handle design.
JH Potter was originally established in 1879 and became an Ltd in 1925 as JH Potter & Sons, Sheffield. In 1935 the firm was part of an ill-fated merger with Fenton Bros and James Deakin & Sons and it closed permanently within three years of the merger.
The tureen is not visibly marked or stamped. The ladle is handle-stamped Potter Chromium Plate Sheffield.
The items all require polishing due to age related vintage patina and surface scratches exist due to use. The ladle has plate loss on the bowl. Aside from all this, the items are all in good usable condition.
