Tuscan Fine English Bone China was established in 1898 at the Tuscan Works in Longton as a partnership between Richard Hammersley Plant and his brother Simon Lucas Plant who together purchased the Works outright in 1914. The firm became a Ltd. in 1915. In 1966 the business was taken over by Wedgwood and renamed Royal Tuscan. Wedgwood closed the Tuscan Works in 2006.
This item is a fine porcelain tea duo manufactured by RH & SL Plant Ltd. under the Tuscan Fine English Bone China trade name during the 1950’s. It consists of a tea cup designed in the Malvern shape together with the matching saucer, both decorated with Tuscan’s pattern 9172H, a pttern seldom encountered today. Both the tea cup and saucer have gently fluted sides and are decorated with olive green trim along mildly scalloped rims. Orange, golden yellow and cobalt blue floral patterning set against a beautiful light pink background.
Stamped underneath Tuscan Fine English Bone China Made in England 9172H.
Both items are in very good condition with no visible damages.
