The Royal Stafford trade name was used by Thomas Poole from 1912 and the company became Royal Stafford China in 1952. The firm was originally founded in 1880 but had existed from 1845 as a partnership known as Johnson & Poole.
The particular mark used on the items in this lovely set, was the first printed mark used by Royal Stafford China from 1952 until the late 1950’s.
Four complete tea trios (cup, saucer and tea plate) together with a matching open sugar bowl, creamer and tea pot, all beautifully decorated in Royal Stafford’s April pattern, which depicts a garland of colourful blue toned flowers with green shaded leaves along scroll style vines with red additions here and there. Some of the flowers are embossed, giving them a raised detail. All 15 items have scalloped rim and have been decorated with gold trim.
Each of the items are stamped underneath April Royal Stafford Bone China Made in England.
Fading or rubbing of the gold trim exist on some of the items, aside from which the set is in very good vintage condition.
