A vintage (1940s) biscuit plate. The item was manufactured and released during the 1940s by Simpsons Potters Ltd as part of their Ambassador series. The item is in the Marlborough design decorated in Simpsons Potters Chetwynd pattern, which has been discontinued.

The Chetwynd pattern displays a series of adorable polka dots along a scalloped and fluted verge/rim followed by a weave work motif embossed in the porcelain itself then a garland of tan leaves with gorgeous yellow and orange-red tulips in the process of blooming. A dark tan berry pattern growing upon a vine has also been designed within the garland. The biscuit plate has a pair of demi-lune shaped handles crafted from the rim.

The Soho Pottery Co. was founded in 1904 by Samuel J Simpson at the Soho Pottery works in Tunstall. In 1918 the company relocated to the elder works in Cobridge. In 1944 the company was changed to Simpsons Potters Ltd.
