The business was established in 1898 as a partnership between Richard Hammersley Plant and his brother Simon Lucas Plant at the Tuscan Works, Longton, Stoke-on-Trent. In 1914 the brothers had become successful enough to purchase the Tuscan Works outright and became a Ltd. in 1915. In 1966 the business was taken over by Wedgwood and renamed Royal Tuscan. In 2006 Wedgwood closed the firm and discontinued production at the Tuscan Works.

This item is a vintage fine bone china squared biscuit plate. The item is decorated with a grey trellis motif on a white background and with tiny pink, yellow and blue rose patterning and green leaves.

The item is stamped underneath Tuscan Fine English Bone China Made in England.

The plate shows fading of the pattern as well as fading of the gold trim, aside from which it is still in usable condition and would complement any vintage table setting. The item has no cracks or chips.
