Barker Brothers was founded in 1876, Longton, and incorporated as Barker Brothers Ltd. in 1882. In 1910 the business was acquired by brothers William, Joseph & Arthur Hewitt. Barker Bros Ltd. was taken over in 1959 by Alfred Clough Ltd. but production continued under Barker Bros name until the company closed in 1981. Royal Tudor Ware is one of the names that Barker Brothers traded under before their being taken over by Alfred Clough in 1959.
This vintage set consists of an oval shaped serving bowl with a matching medium sized as well as a matching large serving platter, all decorated in Royal Tudor Ware’s ”blossom time” pattern, which has gold trim on multi-sided rims with pink and blue blossoms and mist grey leaves decorating the bowl and platters just beneath the rims.
Each item is stamped underneath Royal Tudor Ware, Barker Bros Ltd. England
Besides feint age related crazing and fading of the gold trim, the items are in very good condition.
