Manufactured by Bauscher Weiden, Bavaria, Germany between 1920 and 1948 (Bauscher.DE), this item is a white glazed fine porcelain hot water pot with lid. The item is designed in an art deco shape with oval lid finial, scroll handle and short spout.
Brothers Conrad and August Bauscher founded the firm in 1881 as specialists of hotel porcelain. Between 1887 and 1890 German ships began to use Bauscher porcelain wares and in 1895 a subsidiary of the firm opened in New York with others opening in 1900 in London and Lucerne. Peter Behrens, Jugendstil artist was also employed by the firm at the same time. By 1923 Bauscher was supplying the Waldorf Astoria Hotel. In 1929 Bauscher became part of the Hutschenreuter group.
