This vintage Willsgrove Ware Pottery coffee and tea service features an "Afro-retro" design that was highly popular throughout Southern Africa during the 1960s and 1970s. Manufactured by Willsgrove Ware Pottery in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe (formerly Rhodesia), and this particular set showcases the brand's iconic rustic and durable characteristics.
The set is finished in a glossy, honey-coloured glaze (often called maize or mustard) featuring a light speckled texture, decorated with prominent horizontal ribbed lines (concentric rings) across the exterior of all items, providing a distinct mid-century tactile feel and also coated in a stark contrasting creamy-white smooth glaze on the inner surfaces of the cups and bowl.
