J&G Meakin had close family and corporate affiliations to the potteries Johnson Brothers as well as Alfred Meakin which explains the similarity of many of the patterns used on wares from these three manufacturers. J&G Meakin was founded in 18581, while Alfred Meakin wasset up in 1875. In 1968 J&G Meakin was taken over by the Midwinter Group which itself was taken over by the Wedgwood Group in 1970. In 2000 production under the J&G Meakin name ceased. Alfrede Meakin on the other hand became Myott-Meakin in 1976 and then became part of the Churchill Group.

The item is a lovely decorated ceramic saucer by J&G Meakin produced under the Sol trade name as a Centenary 1851 – 1951 series. It is decorated with a scalloped rim and prominent gold trim with a colourful bouquet of flowers as a pattern, tied together by a gorgeous blue bow/ribbon.

The saucer is stamped underneath By Regd Sol 391413 J&G Meakin England 1851 Centenary 1951.

The saucer is in very good condition with no damages noted.
