Alfares de Ponte Sampaio, better known as the brand Pontesa, launched as a company in 1961 in Vigo, Spain. They went on the be the largest Spanish producer of porcelain ceramics and at one stage had over 30 stores across the country and employed more than 5,000 workers. Across the 1960s and 1970s they produced a wonderful range of floral and abstract designs relevant to both eras.
Although the blue Castillian pattern is still often found for sale, the pink Castillian pieces are very rare and seldom found for sale. This set consists of the beautiful retro Pontesa Coffee Pot and 4 retro Pontesa coffee/espresso duos (cups and saucers) in the very rare pink Castillian pattern.
All the items are stamped underneath Pontesa Ironstone Made in Spain Chinamoda.
