A small antique metal kerosene/oil lamp with a clear glass lampshade, manufactured by German firm Hasag in the late 1800’s. The company was founded near Leipzig in 1863 and the employees originally manufactured the lamps by hand. The company then began producing gas lamps and due to the demand of gas lighting at the time, their product line increased rapidly. In 1899 they officially registered under the name Hugo Schneider AG (HASAG).
This remarkable intrinsic item has all of its parts (as far as I can see) and was probably used both as a wall or desk lamp due to the ability of the canister portion with lampshade to swivel 90 degrees from the base. The lamp does not have a wick.
This is a true collector’s item.
The canister is embossed beneath the lampshade HASAG No 105, Made in Germany.
The metal displays the item’s age with traces of surface rust. The lampshade is in perfect condition.
