The firm of Altorhlau was established by Benedikt Hassler in 1810 as a Faience and Stoneware pottery producer. The name Altrohlau came from the Austrian town which was located in present day Stara Role near Karlovy Vary in Czechoslovakia. In 1823 the firm was acquired by August Novotny & Co and after 1836 the factory began to manufacture porcelain. In 1884 the company was sold to Moritz Zdekauer from Prague. The marks MZ Altrohlau CM-R, Czechoslovakia is for Starorolsky Porcelan Moritz Zdekauer and were used from the late 1800’s to the mid 1900’s. The particular mark used on this set dates from 1918 to 1939.

The item is a complete tea trio consisting of the cup, saucer and tea plate and decorated in pattern ALT 603 which depicts a pink lattice above floral swags of tiny roses. Gold trim has been used on the rims as well as the creamer handle and also highlighting an embossed motif on the body beneath the creamer spout.

The creamer is stamped underneath MZ Altrohlau CM-R Czechoslovakia.

Slight fading / rubbing of the gold trim on the rim, aside from which no other damages noted.
