Solidly designed together with a separate thivkened rim and thickened oval base, this antique silver plated bowl has also been designed with a swing handle and decorated by means of fluted motifs at four points.
The firm was established by John Round in Sheffield in 1847 and soon John went into partnership with his son Edwin, using the JR & S mark until 1874 when the firm became an Ltd. The mark JR & S was then entered at the Sheffield Assay office. The firm had previously used their “All The Round” mark and after 1874 used many other trade names. In 1886 the business of Ridge, Allcard & Co was amalgamated by John Round and then began to use the four tridents trade mark. In the 1930’s the firm was acquired by Joseph Rodgers & Sons.
The item is impressed underneath All The Round, JR & S EPNS warranted hard soldered 32834.
This bowl may require a good polish and has some feint surface scratches due to use, but is in very good second hand condition.
