Lancaster and Sandland Ltd. was established as Lancaster & Sons Ltd. in Hanley, Staffordshire in 1899 becoming Lancaster and Sandland Ltd. in 1944 and closing permanently in November 1968. They were manufacturers of earthenware at the Dresden Works at an area named Tinkersclough in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent. From 1944 the business was renamed Lancaster & Sandland when Sandland became a partner in the company. The company went into voluntary liquidation in November 1968.
This item is a porcelain condiment or jam pot with silver plated lid. The pot comes with a silver plated stand with spoon rest as well as a silver plated jam spoon. The item is decorated in the “In An Olde World Garden” pattern with Crinoline lady and gold chintz decor.
Stamped underneath Sandland Lancaster & Sandland Hanley England. The spoon is stamped EPNS.
Besides age related ware and the silver plating requiring a polish, the item is in good usable condition.
