A grandly designed gothic arched silver plated 6-slice toast rack designed and manufactured by William Hutton & Sons, Birmingham. The toast rack is crafted with seven arched bars, the centre one having a triangular and arched handle attached while the base is appealingly scalloped and has base supports crafted as the four feet on which the item stands.

The firm was established by William Hutton in Birmingham in 1800 and transferred to Sheffield in 1932. In 1893 the firm had already become a Ltd. and began to use their popular cross-arrows mark in 1902. In 1930 however, the firm was absorbed by James Dixon & Sons.

The item is stamped with the William Hutton & Sons mark for pre 1902 – WH & S BP.

Besides requiring a polish, the toast rack is in beautiful condition for its age.
