Levesley Brothers was formed in Sheffield in 1863 by brothers Charles, William and Thomas. Their first premises were at Central Works, 102 West Street, where the firm remained until 1870. During this particular period the firm used the mark LB Silver Plated on their wares, In 1871 the company moved premises and again in 1878 as well as in 1930 and with each move to new premises the firm used a different mark on their wares along with the addition of an S in 1878. By 1930 the firm had become Levesley Brothers & Lloyd. The partnership with Lloyd however only lasted until 1935 when the company closed permanently.
Although neither of these two antique silver plated items are marked, they were originally obtained with the Levesley Brothers coffee pot, and were part of the same set. These items were manufactured in Sheffield between 1863 and 1870.
The items are a silver plated creamer and sugar bowl each of which stand on a trumpet shaped pedestal base. Both items have flared rims and where the creamer has been fitted with a hollowware scroll handle, the sugar bowl has been fitted with an identical pair matching that of the creamer. The sides of the items have been decorated with an etched band with swag and a basket overflowing with flowers.
The items are not marked or stamped.
Although the silver plate has faded with time the items are in good condition with no visible damages.
