Designed in the Elizabeth II style, this item is a set consisting of a silver plated tea strainer and stand / drip tray. The strainer has the classical pierced scroll motif rim rest, but differs from many others of this nature by having the pierced tulip handle design. The stand has a broad graduated rest which narrows perceptibly towards the rim.
William Suckling, Birmingham was founded in 1895 and marketed under the trade names, Burmese, Regis Plate, Kingsway Plate and Platine Metal. The firm went out of business in 1965.
The strainer is handle-stamped Made in England and stamped beneath the pierced metal scroll work Regis Plate EPNS. The stand is stamped underneath Made in England Regis Plate Reg. EPNS N436.
Both items require polishing and some plate loss have occurred over time, the strainer also has a small dent, aside from which the strainer and stand is still fully functional and usable.
