The co-op movement began in Brighton through Dr. William King in 1844. James Colclough was one of the earliest co-op traders in Stoke-On-Trent and in 1901 the Co-operative Society was then officially founded in Burslem. The Windsor Pottery in Longton produced fine porcelain wares for the Co-operative Society. This item is a fine porcelain tea duo consisting of the saucer and matching tea cup, both extensively decorated with a gold chintz floral and leaf patterning across the surface. The tea cup stands on a pedestal base with a gold band and gold upon its handle and has been designed in an almost quatrefoil shape with four fluted sides.
